Shia LaBeouf Faces New Arrest Warrant Amid Mardi Gras Battery Charges
Actor Shia LaBeouf is facing a new arrest warrant in connection with a battery case stemming from an altercation during Mardi Gras celebrations in New Orleans. The warrant, issued on Friday, alleges LaBeouf committed simple battery against a third individual, bringing the total number of alleged victims to three.
Initial Arrest and Court Hearing
LaBeouf was initially arrested on February 17th on two counts of simple battery after a fight outside the R Bar in the Marigny neighborhood. According to police reports, the incident occurred around 12:45 am after LaBeouf was asked to abandon the bar. He allegedly shouted homophobic slurs and physically assaulted multiple people. He was initially released on his own recognizance and was later seen on Bourbon Street that same day.
During a court hearing on Thursday, Judge Simone Levine set a $100,000 bond for LaBeouf and mandated that he undergo drug testing and enroll in a substance abuse treatment program. A drug and alcohol test administered in court raised concerns for the judge, who stated LaBeouf “does not take his alcohol addiction seriously.” LaBeouf posted bond and left the courthouse shortly after the hearing.
New Warrant Details
The newly issued warrant accuses LaBeouf of simple battery against a third person involved in the Mardi Gras altercation. The details surrounding this additional allegation have not been publicly released.
Representatives for the New Orleans Police Department and LaBeouf’s attorney have not yet responded to requests for comment regarding the new warrant, according to WWL Louisiana.
Previous Allegations and Legal Proceedings
Video footage of the incident, obtained by WWL Louisiana, shows LaBeouf removing his shirt, shoving a man and throwing punches as bystanders urged him to stop. Police reported that two individuals were hit, with one sustaining a possible dislocated nose.
LaBeouf is scheduled to appear in court again on March 19th.
