Sigulda’s 9th Swing Festival to Celebrate Art and Ukrainian Support

Sigulda, Latvia, is preparing to host its 9th annual Swing Festival from April 19th to 21st, 2025, with a special focus on art and a continued show of support for Ukraine.

Art Takes Flight: A Centennial Celebration

This year’s festival theme centers around art, honoring the 100th anniversary of the birth of Latvian painter Džemma Skulme. Swings will be transformed into artworks inspired by various art forms, including visual arts, animation, cinema, and costume design, bringing vibrant colors and joy to the festival grounds. The Skulme family’s significant contributions to Latvian art—spanning painting, sculpture, cinema, and scenography—will be recognized.

Festival Highlights and Activities

The Swing Festival will offer a diverse range of activities for visitors of all ages. These include:

  • Artistic Swings: Specially designed swings will serve as interactive art installations.
  • Bio Market: A market featuring products from Latvian producers.
  • Creative Workshops: Opportunities for hands-on artistic expression.
  • Family-Friendly Activities: A variety of events designed for families, and children.
  • Hare Races: The festival will open on April 19th with the Olympic Hare Race, featuring Olympians and Latvian personalities.
  • Easter Market: A traditional Easter market will be held in Sigulda’s Holiday Square, offering festive delicacies and crafts.

Continued Support for Ukraine

For the fifth year, the festival will feature a Ukrainian swing as a symbol of solidarity and support. Visitors will have the opportunity to contribute to the cause by making camouflage nets and donating to provide borscht for Ukrainian children, as well as donating toys.

Location and Accessibility

Festival objects will be located in Sigulda’s main squares – the railway station and Celebration Square – as well as in other areas of the city and Sigulda region, including the Gauja National Park. A digital swing road map will be available on social networks and www.sigulda.lv.

The 9th Swing Festival promises a vibrant celebration of art, community, and support for Ukraine, offering a unique experience for visitors of all ages.
