Vikings Dominate 2023 Pro Bowl Selections
Several Minnesota Vikings players are having career-defining seasons, and their exceptional performances have earned them recognition in the upcoming 2023 Pro Bowl Games.
A total of six Vikings players secured spots on the initial NFC roster, with Justin Jefferson, Jonathan Greenard, Andrew Van Ginkel, Byron Murphy Jr., and Andrew DePaola voted as starters. Sam Darnold, meanwhile, landed a backup quarterback position behind Jared Goff of the Detroit Lions.
Only the Baltimore Ravens and Detroit Lions surpassed the Vikings’ impressive representation. This marks the first Pro Bowl selection for Darnold, Greenard, Van Ginkel, and Murphy, highlighting their breakout seasons.
Vikings Stars Shine Bright
Darnold’s remarkable performance has propelled him to career highs with 4,153 passing yards, 35 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. Jefferson, a force to be reckoned with, boasts 1,479 receiving yards, ranking second in the league, and 100 catches. Van Ginkel leads the Vikings with 11.5 sacks, while Greenard follows closely with 11 sacks. Murphy Jr. secures interceptions, demonstrating his defensive prowess.
Veteran long snapper Andrew DePaola earns his third consecutive Pro Bowl appearance despite missing several games due to injury. Jefferson, meanwhile, makes his fourth Pro Bowl appearance in five seasons, solidifying his status as a standout receiver.
Beyond the starters, seven additional Vikings players were named alternates, showcasing the team’s overall depth and talent. These include C.J. Ham, Josh Metellus, Garrett Bradbury, T.J. Hockenson, Brian O’Neill, Trent Sherfield Sr., and Harrison Phillips.
Pro Bowl Festivities
The 2023 Pro Bowl Games, featuring flag football, skills competitions, and exciting matchups, will take place in Orlando, Florida, culminating in the main event on Sunday, February 2. Catch all the action on ABC and ESPN, starting with the skills competition on Thursday, January 30.
