Skoda Unveils New Peaq Electric SUV as Largest and Most Technologically Advanced Model Yet
Skoda has launched the Peaq, its largest and most technologically advanced electric vehicle (EV) to date, marking a significant step in the brand’s transition to zero-emission mobility. The SUV, which seats up to seven passengers, boasts a range of over 638 kilometers (396 miles) on a single charge and features a 13.6-inch vertical Android-powered touchscreen, according to official specifications.
What Makes the Skoda Peaq Unique?
The Peaq, measuring 4.87 meters in length with a 2.96-meter wheelbase, is Skoda’s first large SUV and the largest EV in the brand’s history. It introduces several firsts for the Czech automaker, including flush door handles, an electrochromic panoramic roof, and a 91 kWh battery pack—the largest ever used in a Skoda EV. The roof, spanning 2.1 square meters, is the biggest ever installed on a Skoda model, according to the company’s technical documentation.

The interior accommodates seven adults, with a 935-liter cargo space in five-seat configuration. A front trunk (frunk) adds 37 liters of storage for charging cables. A “Relax” package includes ventilated, heated, and massaging front seats, an ergonomic footrest, and a foldable table, enhancing comfort for long journeys.
What Are the Performance and Range Specifications?
The Peaq offers two variants in Spain: the Peaq 90 and Peaq 90x. The Peaq 90 delivers up to 638 km of range, while the all-wheel-drive Peaq 90x achieves 610 km. Both models feature 210–220 kW (285–300 horsepower) power outputs, with 0–100 km/h acceleration times of 7.1 and 6.7 seconds, respectively. Rapid charging allows the battery to go from 10% to 80% in 28 minutes, as stated by Skoda’s press materials.
The vehicle’s aerodynamic coefficient of 0.249, achieved through an optimized design, contributes to its efficiency. The exterior includes a T-shaped LED light signature, a “Tech-Deck Face” grille, and a streamlined silhouette, according to the brand’s technical highlights.
What Technological Features Does the Peaq Offer?
The Peaq introduces a 13.6-inch vertical Android touchscreen, a first for Skoda. It also includes a premium Sonos audio system with 16 speakers and 755 watts of power. Safety features include ten airbags, Front Assist, Side Assist, and Crossroad Assist, with optional Travel Assist 3.0 and 360-degree view systems.

The SUV supports bidirectional charging, one-pedal driving, and a 2,000 kg towing capacity. These capabilities position the Peaq as a competitor to models like the Tesla Model X and Volkswagen ID.7, according to industry analysts at Autocar.
Why Is the Peaq Significant for Skoda’s EV Strategy?
The Peaq represents Skoda’s push to dominate the large-family EV segment, aligning with the European Union’s 2035 internal combustion engine ban. The model’s size, range, and tech suite aim to challenge established players while reinforcing the brand’s commitment to sustainability. Skoda’s CEO, Pavel Kroupa, emphasized the Peaq’s role in “redefining mobility for families and long-distance drivers,” as reported by Motoring.
With a starting price of €55,000 in Germany, the Peaq targets consumers seeking a balance of space, technology, and environmental responsibility. Its launch follows Skoda’s 2023 announcement of a €6 billion investment in EV development, underscoring the brand’s strategic shift.
