BRATISLAVA. When they wanted to applaud the fans after the match, only the whistle was heard from the guest sector. Fenerbahce fans were angry.
The Istanbul team did not win again in the home competition. Of the last four matches in the Turkish Süperlig, they scored only once, tying the remaining three duels.
The latest Fenerbahce, with slovak captain Milan Škriniar, was troubled in a goalless draw against Samsunspor, in which the defense also featured Ľubomír Šatka.
It was a match for a pair of Slovak national team players who will test their strength against Northern Ireland and Luxembourg over the next seven days in the 2027 World Cup qualifiers.
However, neither of the Slovaks lasted the full 90 minutes in this Süperlig duel.
Was missing only a goal, said Šatka
“I can say that we performed very well today,” said Šatka, who lamented only one thing: “The only thing we missed was a goal.”
From the outlook of Fenerbahce, it was perhaps their worst performance of the season. Samsunspor developed more shooting opportunities (12-6), having up to five big chances, while the Istanbul team had none.
Samsunspor even scored in the first half, but the referee disallowed Anthony Musab’s goal after a video review.
it was a controversial situation involving Milan Škriniar. He was the last defender, and many experts believe his position was not offside.
The slovak captain was also involved in an even more controversial moment in the second half, when he attempted to clear the ball but only hit the opponent. The ball bounced back and struck Škriniar’s hand.
