Monterrey Sports Fair Champions Community Development and Inclusivity

Monterrey’s annual Sports Fair continues to expand its impact, fostering social cohesion and providing opportunities for vulnerable communities through sport. The fair, which began in 2016, has grown from serving 700 beneficiaries to over 8,000 in 2025, solidifying its role as a key initiative for sports development and family integration.

Transformative Role of Sport in Social Cohesion

The event emphasizes the importance of sport as a tool for prevention, encouraging community participation, and promoting comprehensive personal development. Agency leaders have highlighted sport’s transformative role in strengthening social bonds and supporting families.

“We are going to make our community grow. I am going to be here for you, for your sons, for your daughters, for your communities. I have a commitment that I make with you: I have not failed them even once, I will always be there to listen to their most pressing needs, the challenges they experience, especially my women, in all their homes, their neighborhoods,” stated a representative of the agency.

A Diverse Range of Sports on Display

The fair showcased a wide array of sports, including taekwondo, boxing, Olympic wrestling, artistic gymnastics, aerial gymnastics, karate, chess, football, basketball, volleyball, CrossFit, table tennis, fitness, and rhythms. Participants of all ages and skill levels demonstrated their abilities in free sports workshops held at community centers.

Representatives from nine community centers participated: Topo Chico, San Bernabé, Valley of Hope, La Alianza, La Alianza Sector Q, Independence, Sierra Ventana, Proletarian Revolution, and La Estanzuela.

Rising Achievements and Continued Commitment

The Community Centers of the Secretariat of Equality and Inclusion have become a breeding ground for athletic talent, with athletes achieving success at national and international levels. Recent accomplishments include World Championship titles at the Madrid 2023 World Challenge, as well as being Runners-up at the Madrid World Challenge in 2024, and 2025. Titles have similarly been secured in paranational, national, and Pan-American competitions in sports like soccer, taekwondo, Olympic wrestling, table tennis, and chess.

Through this fair, the Secretariat reaffirms its dedication to strengthening vulnerable communities through sport, inclusion, and unwavering support for Monterrey families.
