Spotify Launches Exclusive Video Podcast Program: New Ways for Creators to Monetize

Spotify is stepping up its game in the video podcast space with the launch of its new "Partner Program," designed to empower popular podcast hosts to monetize their video content.

This program, first announced in November, officially rolled out in the US, UK, Canada, and Australia on Thursday. It allows qualifying creators to unlock new revenue streams beyond advertising, including video payouts.

Boosting Spotify’s Video Podcast Library

Spotify aims to challenge YouTube’s dominance in the video realm with this expansion. According to Spotify, over 65% of eligible podcast shows have already enrolled in the Partner Program since its unveiling at the Now Playing event. Notable participant include Smart Money Happy Hour, The Paranormal Podcast, The Makeshift Podcast, Girls Rewatch Podcast, and more.

More Benefits for Podcasters and Listeners Alike

Alongside the new program, Spotify has also made video podcasts ad-free for Premium users, enhancing the viewing experience. Furthermore, a new tool called "Podcast Clips" allows creators to upload short-form videos to promote their shows and attract new listeners. Spotify reports that these clips are "33% more effective than previews at converting browsers into engaged listeners."
