Stanford Gymnastics Set for Senior Night Showdown with Cal, Air Force, and Team France
STANFORD, Calif. – No. 2 Stanford men’s gymnastics will celebrate Senior Night on Saturday, hosting No. 8 California, No. 13 Air Force, Team France, and Team Quebec in the regular season finale inside Burnham Pavilion.
The Cardinal will honor its four seniors – Arun Chhetri, Asher Hong, Marcus Kushner, and Nick Kuebler – following the meet. Fans arriving early may receive a free Stanford Gymnastics hat, while supplies last.
Saturday’s action is scheduled to begin at 4:00 PM PT, with live coverage available on Virti.us.
Last Time Out
Stanford recently defeated No. 7 California 323.900-312.850 in the collegiate portion of the Stanford International Collegiate. Cooper Kim and Nick Kuebler each secured event titles, while Kiran Mandava and Arun Chhetri similarly contributed to the Cardinal’s victory. The event also featured Stanford representatives competing with Team USA, including Asher Hong, David Shamah, and Jun Iwai, alongside alumni Taylor Burkhart and Riley Loos. Marcus Pietarinen and Divier Ramos joined forces with Colt Walker and Khoi Young on the International All-Stars team.
National Team Recognition
Six current and former Stanford gymnasts earned National Team spots following competition at the Winter Cup in Louisville, Kentucky. David Shamah won the all-around bronze medal with a score of 79.608, and also posted the second-highest parallel bars score (14.808). Jun Iwai finished seventh in the all-around (76.705), earning a third-place finish on vault (14.100) and fourth on high bar (13.550). Strong Performances This Season
Stanford has demonstrated consistent excellence throughout the 2026 season:
- Stanford Open: The Cardinal posted the top score in the nation (326.450) while winning six of seven events. Asher Hong achieved a pair of event victories, including an all-around score of 80.300 and a 14.450 on still rings. Nick Kuebler won both floor exercise and a share of the high bar title.
- Rocky Mountain Open: Stanford finished second with a score of 320.750, winning five of seven events. David Shamah secured a career-best 14.500 on parallel bars and won the all-around (79.700). Nick Kuebler (HB), Reece Landsperger (SR), and Wade Nelson (VT) also earned event titles.
- Season-Opening Victory: Stanford defeated No. 9 California 320.100-309.700, claiming six event titles. Nick Kuebler and David Shamah each won two event titles, while Kiran Mandava and Wade Nelson secured victories on pommel horse and vault, respectively.
- Elite Canada: Jun Iwai led Stanford with a 79.916 in the all-around at Elite Canada, achieving career-high scores on floor exercise (14.350) and high bar (13.800). Nick Kuebler scored a 14.200 on still rings, and Asher Hong produced the Cardinal’s best showing on parallel bars (14.250).
2025 Recap

Key Returners and Incoming Class
Stanford returns three gymnasts who competed at the NCAA Championships last season, including six-time NCAA champion Asher Hong, 2023 floor national champion Nick Kuebler, still rings All-American Arun Chhetri, and two-time NCAA team champion Marcus Kushner. The team also welcomes a talented freshman class, including Jun Iwai, Joey Nieves, Divier Ramos-Delgado, Deano Roberts, and Michael Scheiner.
