Stars Extend Win Streak to Eight, Tie Franchise Record with Overtime Victory Over Predators

The Dallas Stars continued their impressive post-Olympic break form, defeating the Nashville Predators 3-2 in overtime on Saturday night and tying a franchise record with their eighth consecutive win. Entering the game with a six-game win streak prior to the Olympic break, the Stars seamlessly resumed their winning ways after the three-week hiatus.

Stars Overcome Two-Goal Deficit

Nathan Bastian scored the equalizing goal early in the third period, forcing overtime, although Jason Robertson secured the game-winning goal in the extra frame. The Stars fell behind early, allowing two goals in the first period.

Oettinger Returns to Net After Olympic Gold

Stars goalie Jake Oettinger, fresh off winning a gold medal with Team USA at the 2026 Winter Olympics, allowed two goals in the first 20 minutes of play. A Thomas Harley roughing penalty led to a power-play goal for Nashville’s Michael Bunting. Shortly after, Steven Stamkos doubled the Predators’ lead following a Stars turnover.

Second Period Shift and Johnston’s Record-Breaking Performance

Dallas began to shift the momentum midway through the second period. Wyatt Johnston scored his league-leading 20th power-play goal of the season, setting a latest Dallas Stars record for most power-play goals in a single season. His 32nd goal overall brought him within one of tying his career high.

Bastian and Robertson Seal the Victory

Early in the third period, Bastian found the game-tying goal, skillfully maneuvering around Predators goalie Juuse Saros. Robertson then clinched the victory for Dallas in overtime, capitalizing on a pass from Miro Heiskanen. Oettinger finished with 25 saves, while Saros recorded 22.

Looking Ahead

The Stars will continue their road trip with back-to-back games in Vancouver and Calgary on Monday and Tuesday, aiming to break the franchise record for the longest win streak. “We play so much sometimes you don’t even realize you’re on an eight gamer, and now we’re going for 10,” Bastian said.
