SuperTux 0.7.0 Released: A Nostalgic Open-Source Platformer Gets a Major Update
SuperTux, the open-source 2D jump’n run sidescroller inspired by the classic Super Mario Bros. series, has received its first major update since December 2021 with the release of version 0.7.0.1 This release brings significant improvements and new features to the beloved game.
What’s New in SuperTux 0.7.0?
The SuperTux Team highlighted that the development process took time due to the extensive changes and improvements made, resulting in one of the largest releases since Milestone 2.1 Key updates include:
- New Sprites and Abilities for Tux: Players can now enjoy slope sliding, strong buttjumping, rock rolling and crawling mechanics.1
- Revamped Graphics: Most backgrounds, tiles, objects, and enemies have been visually updated.1
- Complete Level Design and Story Rework: The Story Mode, Revenge in Redmond, and Bonus Island have been redesigned with a new storyline.1
- New Characters and Enemies: The game introduces new NPCs like Granito, and enemies such as DiveMine, Fish, and Corrupted Granito, alongside revamps to existing enemies like GoldBomb, Igel, Ghoul, and the Yeti and Ghost Tree bosses.1

- Level Editor Revamp: Improved tools for creating custom levels.1
