Two Teens Killed in Motorbike Crash with Bus in Sydney’s West
Two teenagers died after their motorbike collided with a bus in Bossley Park, Sydney, on Sunday evening, March 23, 2026. The incident has sparked renewed calls for action on illegal and modified bikes on Sydney’s roads.
Details of the Crash
The 15-year-old motorbike rider and his 14-year-old passenger were involved in a collision with a bus on the Liverpool-Parramatta T-Way near Restwell Road at approximately 7:10 PM. Police reported the trail bike became trapped under the bus after the impact. 9News reported that paramedics were unable to save the boys, and they were pronounced dead at the scene.
Response and Investigation
The 48-year-old bus driver and passengers were unharmed, though the driver underwent mandatory testing at a hospital. Police confirmed the motorbike involved was petrol-powered. Investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances leading to the crash.
Calls for Increased Regulation
Fairfield City Mayor Frank Carbone has been a long-time advocate for addressing the issue of illegal e-bikes and motorbikes on local roads, particularly on the T-Way corridor. Following the crash, Carbone urged Novel South Wales Premier Chris Minns to take immediate action. He stated on Facebook, “This is what happens when the NSW State Government ignores repeated requests for action on illegal E-bikes and motor bikes, which have taken over our T-Way.” He called for police intervention and a response to community concerns.
Recent Government Actions
Last year, the NSW government implemented new regulations for e-scooters, including a 20km/h speed limit and a minimum rider age of 16. However, these changes did not extend to e-bikes. Transport Minister John Graham explained the government’s focus on e-scooters was driven by concerns regarding device modification, fire risk, and rider behavior. 9News reported that Graham stated, “We believe a sensible set of rules will promote the health and lifestyle benefits of e-bikes and e-scooters while protecting the safety of riders and everyone else sharing the paths and roads with them.”
The Daily Telegraph also reported on the incident.
