Sugar Bowl Postponement Shakes Up Gator Bowl Schedule
The postponement of the Sugar Bowl due to a New Year’s Eve terror attack in New Orleans has triggered a domino effect, causing a slight change to the schedule of the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl.
Gator Bowl Kickoff Time Adjusted
The Gator Bowl, originally slated for a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff between Duke and Ole Miss, will now begin at 8:00 p.m. ET on Thursday. This adjustment accommodates the rescheduled Sugar Bowl, a College Football Playoff quarterfinal between Notre Dame and Georgia, which will now kick off at 4:00 p.m. ET.
ESPN Megacast Updates
ESPN has also made some minor modifications to its “Megacast” viewing options for the Sugar Bowl. Due to scheduling conflicts with other events, the “Command Center” feed will move to ESPNU, and the “SkyCast” feed will move to ESPNEWS. The “SkyCast featuring Hometown Radio” feed, originally scheduled for SEC Network, will now be streamed only.
Seamless Transition Despite Unexpected Events
Despite the unforeseen circumstances, ESPN has successfully navigated the rescheduling of the Sugar Bowl, minimizing disruption to viewers. The Gator Bowl also benefits from the added exposure as a lead-in to the highly anticipated College Football Playoff game.
