Meghan Markle Makes Instagram Comeback with New Account “@meghan”
After a hiatus since 2020, Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, has officially returned to Instagram with a new account, “@meghan.” The news was confirmed by The Associated Press on Wednesday, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the Duchess on the social media platform.
Meghan’s first post features a captivating black and white video of herself at the beach. She can be seen wearing white attire and drawing the year “2025” in the sand on a slightly overcast day. The account has already garnered a significant following, surpassing 200,000 followers in just a short time.
Meghan’s Instagram comeback comes after a period of significant change in her life and her relationship with the royal family. She and Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, were initially part of the @KensingtonRoyal account, which also included Prince William and Kate, the Princess of Wales. However, in 2019, they launched their own account, @SussexRoyal, signaling their growing independence from the royal institution. This account was subsequently discontinued in 2020, around the same time Meghan and Harry announced their decision to step back from their official royal duties.
The Duchess of Sussex had previously hinted at her intention to return to Instagram. In a 2022 interview with New York Magazine’s The Cut, she shared, “Do you want to know a secret? I’m getting back … on Instagram.” However, she has also expressed concerns about online harassment and the potential impact of social media on mental health, urging platforms to implement stricter content moderation policies.
Meghan’s return to Instagram has generated considerable buzz and anticipation. It remains to be seen what kind of content she will share and how she will navigate her online presence in the future.
