Tennis is still a popular sport that is suitable for a wide range of people from different professions and age groups – from civil servants and officials to young people and seniors to pensioners. The development of pickleball is not intended to “supplant” tennis, but rather to create healthy competition that contributes to the advancement of both sports. Given this trend, many tennis court owners are upgrading their courts, equipment and lighting systems to meet the increasing demand for training options. Many tennis clubs are improving the quality of their professional offerings and hiring experienced trainers to look after their members directly. These training courses have significantly improved the tennis players’ skills and performance.

Mr. Tran Huy Toan, a resident of Rach Gia District, said he has been playing both pickleball and tennis lately. However, he still prefers tennis because there are many players there and the shots are varied and beautiful. “Despite my busy schedule, I take time out every afternoon to train with my friends. I play pickleball in the morning and tennis in the evening. This has significantly improved my health. In addition to sports, I also exchange ideas with many people about professional and life experiences,” said Mr. Toan.
The sustainable development of the tennis movement is also reflected in the effective operation of the tennis clubs in the province. There is continuous investment in the facilities and the pitch network and these are being expanded, and the training equipment is being modernized to meet professional standards. Through community engagement, the tennis movement has received positive support from organizations and companies that ensure healthy playing conditions and attract tennis enthusiasts. Numerous tournaments are organized at club and provincial levels.
According to Nguyen Bao Toan, Secretary General of the Provincial Tennis Association: “The tennis movement is developing in parallel with the successful implementation of social mobilization measures. The tournaments organized in collaboration with the Provincial Tennis Association are becoming increasingly professional and offer many exciting and captivating games. In addition to gaining experience and pursuing their passion, athletes also have the opportunity to exchange ideas, learn from each other and share experiences.”
To promote the sport of tennis, the Ministry of Culture and Sports, in collaboration with the Provincial Tennis Association, organizes numerous tournaments that attract many athletes from the province and beyond. Ministries, authorities and municipalities also integrate tennis into their annual sports programs and competitions, thereby offering tennis players the opportunity to improve their health and sporting abilities. Through these tournaments, the general sports movement and tennis in particular are constantly being developed, while at the same time professional sports are supported in the selection of top-class athletes for regional tournaments.
The Ministry of Culture and Sports, in collaboration with the Provincial Tennis Association and Brigade 962 (Military Region 9), recently held the Provincial Tennis Championships on the occasion of the Festival and Chinese New Year of the Horse 2026. The tournament attracted nearly 60 athletes from 16 units in the province, who competed in four categories: Men’s Doubles (18-39 years old), Men’s Doubles (40-50 years old), Men’s Doubles (51 years and older) and mixed. According to the organizers, this year’s tournament was characterized by a high professional level. The players fought many exciting and dramatic matches with numerous beautiful shots, especially in the final.
Athlete Nguyen Thi Hue Linh, who lives in Tri Ton township, expressed her joy at winning the mixed doubles championship: “When I took first place, I was overjoyed but also quite exhausted as my opponents played very well. Participating in the tournament not only helped me improve my health, but also gave me many new friends who share my passion for tennis.”
