Texas Celebrates National Child and Adult Care Food Program Week

AUSTIN – Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller is encouraging Texans to recognize the vital role of the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) during National CACFP Week, observed from March 15-21, 2026. The program ensures nutritious meals and snacks are available to children and adults in various care settings across the state.

What is the Child and Adult Care Food Program?

The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) is a U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) initiative designed to improve nutrition and wellness for individuals in childcare facilities, adult day care centers, and afterschool programs. It supports good nutrition at adult day care centers, childcare centers, home-based day cares, and afterschool programs.

Impact in Texas

The Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) administers the CACFP within the state. Last year, Texas CACFP organizations served over 200 million balanced meals. These meals are provided at more than 12,000 sites throughout Texas.
