A man has been arrested this afternoon in Logroño as alleged perpetrator of the murder of his wife, after what they would have taken their three children together with the intention of drowning them in the Ebro river, sources of the investigation have confirmed to EFE.
The event occurred around 3:30 p.m. this Saturday, on the second floor of number 1 of Plaza Martínez Flamarique in the capital of La Rioja, to where agents of the National and Local Police have moved after receiving a notice about a possible case of sexist violence.
The man, about 40 years old, has been arrested in the surroundings of Harinera street, in the area known as La Isla, next to the Ebro river, when he tried to drown the little ones. The first data indicate that, apparently, one of the children has managed to flee and has warned of what happened.
The Government Delegation in La Rioja has indicated that there are no previous complaints of mistreatment or this type of violence. Some of the neighbors have pointed out to journalists their surprise at what happened, since it seemed like a family without problems of these characteristics.
The mayor of Logroño, Conrado Escobar, has approached the address where the event occurred, without making any statements. The forecast is that, once it is confirmed that it is a case of sexist violence, the Logroño City Council will activate the mourning protocol that it has established in these cases.
