The Círculo de Empresarios has published this Wednesday its Open letter to future Legislators and Governors, a document in which it states that “it is essential to delay the retirement age voluntarily accompanied by a system of incentives”. And that delay, as explained by its president, Manuel Pérez-Sala, would be up to a range between 68 and 72 years of age.

“If you retire earlier, there would be a slight reduction in your pension and if you retire later, an incentive,” Pérez-Sala explained at the press conference in which he presented the document. Currently, the retirement age is 66 years and four months, and the goal is that by 2027, if at least 38 and a half years have not been worked, the legal age is established in 67 years. The increase, therefore, is very remarkable and controversial.

“The recent reform of the pension system does not ensure its viabilityit only delays the problem, it is profoundly lacking in solidarity and will require a great sacrifice from active citizens”, states the document, which supports the increase in the tax advantages of private savings plans and the so-called Austrian backpack.

“He would receive periodic contributions from the current contribution received by Social Security for unemployment. The amount of that account could be used by the worker for unemployment, training or as a complement to his future pension. To this should be added a deep review of active employment policies”, he explains about that backpack.

The text also demands the elimination of taxes on banks and electricity companies, as well as on large fortunes. Regarding the first two, the Circle states that they will finish it paying usersand about the figure to the rich he affirms that it is “an ideological tax” that provokes “relocations“.
