The Civil Guard has intervened two protected lynxes that had been sold to a resident of Santiurde de Toranzo (Cantabria) illegally and investigate this person who bought them and the two sellers, A Man and a Womanfor alleged crime against the protection of fauna.
Lynxes are of the species caracal caracalwhich is protected and included as such within the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).
According to the Civil Guard in a press release, the investigation began when the Nature Protection Service (SEPRONA) learned of the possible existence of two lynxes on a property in Santiurde de Toranzo.
