Snow White and the Seven Dwarfspremiered in 1937, is one of the most popular classics of Disney. The company is preparing a live-action remake of the film. Like other adaptations of this style, the casting and development of the project have aroused some criticism, especially due to the changes regarding the animated production.
David Hand, son of one of the directors of the original film, has harshly charged against this remake in statements collected by The Telegraph. At 91, he considers the title “a completely different concept”: “I totally disagree with that, and I know that my father and Walt they would be too.”
Handwhose father was also called Davidworked as a designer for Disney in the 1990s. Three decades later, he has made it clear that he doesn’t like the line the company is taking today. He describes it as a “disgrace” that those responsible are “trying to do something new with something that was previously a great success.”
“His thoughts are so radical now… They change the stories, they change the thought process of the characters… They invent new things woke, and I’m not in favor of that,” he said. “I find it a bit insulting what they do with some of these classic movies. There is no respect for what Disney did and what my father did… I think He and Walt would turn in their graves.“, he sentenced.
In addition, he suggested to the heads of the studies of Disney that focus on original ideas: “They shouldn’t take a classic and rewrite it.… Create new characters, if you’re going to do this, but don’t destroy or try to destroy something that is classic and a beautiful piece.”
