The Ministry of the Interior warns of a email scamor by which this department is impersonated so that the victim can verify if he has been elected a member of a polling station of 23J by clicking on a fraudulent link to obtain his personal data.

“In the following button you can check your data, as well as verify if you have been called to a polling station,” reads the email that the scammers pose as the Ministry of the Interior.

Interior has alerted this Monday of this scam through its Twitter account and has asked that “don’t click”, at the same time that it remembers that the notification of the polling station arrives by certified mail at the address and not by e-mail.

“As you well know, the general elections of the Government of Spain will be held on July 23. Your participation is of unquestionable importance, since the creation of a government depends on it,” explains the fraudulent email, which then proceeds to incite the voter to click on the button that will redirect you to your data.

According to the Ministry, It is a “phishing” attempt.a technique in which they send emails that impersonate official institutions and companies to steal users’ personal and bank details.
