Movistar launches its 5G+ in more than 700 municipalities

Movistar has started July with the launch of its 5G+ service in more than 700 municipalities. It is 5G premium has better features and will not mean no cost for the user and will be activated automatically in the areas where it can provide coverage.

The goal of the group operator Telefónica is to reach the 1,000 municipalities with deployment in the 3,500 MHz frequency before the end of the year, while it already offers an SA service (pure 5G) in 11 cities, which allows companies to implement advanced mobile connectivity services. Throughout the year, the company expects to have extensive coverage of 5G SA in the most cities with more than 250,000 inhabitants.

The new service launched by Movistar allows a browsing speed up to 1,600 Mbpswhich translates to faster downloads, uninterrupted cloud gaming and streaming high image quality, among other benefits explained by the company.

Telefónica has accelerated the deployment of its 3,500 MHz 5G so far this year and is now following Orange, which was the first operator to commercially launch the 5G+ service. The operator offers 5G coverage to 85% of the population and has already been deployed in more than 2,200 municipalities in total.
