Third Victim Dies in Rhode Island Ice Rink Shooting; Family Targeted in Attack
Pawtucket, RI – A third victim has died from injuries sustained in the February 16th shooting at the Dennis M. Lynch Arena in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, according to police. Gerald Dorgan, 75, succumbed to his wounds on Wednesday, February 25th, bringing the total number of fatalities to three. His daughter, Rhonda Dorgan, and grandson, Aidan Dorgan, were also killed in the attack.
Details of the Shooting
The shooting occurred during a youth hockey game, and authorities have stated the attack was targeted. Robert Dorgan, 56, identified by police as the shooter, also known as Roberta Esposito and Roberta Dorgano, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the scene. Robert Dorgan was the ex-husband of Rhonda Dorgan and the father of Aidan Dorgan.
Other Victims
In addition to the fatalities, two other individuals were wounded during the shooting. Linda Dorgan, Rhonda Dorgan’s mother, and Thomas Geruso, a family friend, were hospitalized with serious injuries as of February 24th. Their current condition remains unchanged according to city officials.
Heroic Intervention by Bystanders
Law enforcement officials have credited three bystanders with intervening and containing the shooter during the attack. These individuals were able to subdue Robert Dorgan as the crowd fled, preventing further casualties.

Pawtucket Mayor Donald R. Grebien expressed his heartbreak over Gerald Dorgan’s death, stating, “Our thoughts and prayers remain with the victim’s family, friends, and all those impacted by this tragic act of violence.” Similar sentiments were echoed by Mayor Grebien following the deaths of Rhonda and Aidan Dorgan.

The Pawtucket Police Department continues to investigate the shooting. Authorities have confirmed the attack was specifically targeted towards family members.
