Tina Win: Building a Pop Empire on Her Own Terms
At 27, Romanian-American singer-songwriter Tina Win is rapidly establishing herself as a distinctive independent force in the pop music landscape. With the upcoming release of her dance-pop single, ‘How To Be Cool,’ Win is signaling a departure from industry norms, opting for complete creative and financial control through her self-owned company, Tina Win Music LLC.
A New Genre of Pop
Win describes her sound as a “new genre of pop,” blending structured dance beats with raw emotionality. Her musical influences are diverse, ranging from pop icons like Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga to singer-songwriters like Jewel, Sheryl Crow, and Stevie Nicks. The upcoming single, ‘How To Be Cool,’ is described as a track steeped in the empowering energy of Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance era, following her previous release, ‘Try Anything,’ from last summer.
Independent Vision and Business Acumen
Win isn’t simply releasing music; she’s constructing an independent empire, one meticulously crafted element at a time. Launching her own label, Tina Win Music LLC, allows her to retain full ownership of her function, a crucial step in an industry often criticized for exploitative practices. “I’m forcing myself not to fail,” Win stated, emphasizing a determined mindset. “I’m betting on myself.”
A Platform for Female Artists
Win’s ambition extends beyond her own success. She aims to create a platform for other female artists facing challenges within the traditional record label system. “I wish to facilitate other artists,” she explained. “I see female artists out there that are having trouble because they can’t get out of a record company or what they’re involved with right now.”
From Personal Struggle to Artistic Expression
Win’s music is deeply personal, drawing inspiration from her own life experiences. She was adopted as a toddler and brought to America from Romania, and later experienced the loss of both adopted parents by the age of 25. She has also navigated the challenges of sexual assault and domestic violence. “Singing and performing – that is my therapy,” Win confides. “For me, I sing because it physically calms me.” She hopes to help others heal through her stories.
Expanding Beyond Music
Win’s vision isn’t limited to music. She is building a broader pop-culture brand, with plans to launch a fragrance this spring, a beauty line in the works, and a fashion line in development. She is collaborating with seasoned producer Joey Auch to craft a sonic landscape that bridges alt-rock edge and mainstream appeal, drawing inspiration from artists like Ke$ha and Fleetwood Mac.
A Cinematic Debut Album
Currently immersed in the studio, Win is recording her full-length debut album, a project she describes as a “cinematic declaration” of her artistic vision. She plans to release tracks one by one as they are completed, maintaining a high-velocity rollout and solidifying her position as a self-managed force. Win aims for a diverse sound, encompassing pop-rock and pop-jazz elements, and is open to collaborations with other artists.
