Tramore Buzzes On New Year’s Day
After a week of festive indulgences, many people are turning to the outdoors for a fresh start in the New Year. Tramore, a popular coastal town in Waterford, saw a surge in visitors yesterday afternoon.
Parking lots were quickly filled, with motorists resorting to nearby housing estates for alternative spots. Long queues of cars formed leading towards the Riverstown Business Park, indicative of the high volume of visitors.
Local Businesses See Booming New Year’s Day Trade
Cafes and eateries along the lower Promenade reported a busy day of trading on New Year’s Day. Moe’s, Molly’s, and the Sandcastle Cafe were bustling with customers, serving up warming coffee and hot chocolate to those bundled up in winter attire.
WLR news caught up with several visitors enjoying the winter sun, asking about their New Year’s resolutions.
Amber’s Resolution: Health, Happiness, and Family
Amber, visiting Tramore from Tipperary with her daughter, shared her plans for the new year. “We came down to start the new year the right way by being more healthy and active. I love the freedom of Tramore. The kids can go on the scooters and bikes, but I also love sitting here looking at the waves and enjoying the peace.”
“My New Year’s resolution is to be happier, healthier, and have more family time,” she added.
Jim Keeps it Simple: Enjoying Tramore
Jim, also from Carlow, visits Tramore frequently but doesn’t subscribe to New Year’s resolutions. “I don’t have any New Year’s resolutions because they wouldn’t be long getting forgotten so I don’t bother with them.”
He added, “I love visiting Tramore. When you are visiting Waterford, where else would you want to be?”
