Treaty United Secure Play-Off Berth with Decisive Win

Treaty United secured the final play-off spot in the SSE Airtricity Men’s First Division with a well-deserved victory over Wexford FC at Ferrycarrig Park.

Tommy Barrett’s team entered this crucial match with a one-point lead over their competitors, knowing a draw would be sufficient to claim fifth place. they surpassed expectations, securing a comfortable victory with second-half goals from Patrick Ferry and Mark Byrne.

Wexford started strongly, nearly taking an early lead when Calum Flynn passed to Ajibola Oluwabiyi on the left wing. Oluwabiyi’s shot went wide of the target.

Flynn was again involved in a promising attack, skillfully maneuvering the ball before finding Oluwabiyi, who then set up Ben McCormack.Though, McCormack’s attempt was unsuccessful, chipping the ball over the crossbar and failing to trouble former Wexford goalkeeper Corey Chambers.

Treaty United didn’t settle for a defensive approach, aiming to secure the draw they needed. In the 11th minute, Karl O’Sullivan shot across the goalmouth, and Patrick Ferry’s subsequent effort was directly at goalkeeper Paul Martin.

Lee Devitt then curled a shot on target that Martin easily collected. The Wexford goalkeeper was stretched to his limit in the 17th minute, tipping over a powerful long-range strike from Lee Lynch.

The Limerick side continued to press, with Martin saving a close-range effort just before the hour mark.
