Farmers are protesting in The Hague today with tractors and other agricultural vehicles. They are demonstrating against the nitrogen policy of the cabinet.
The farmers are critical of the measures that the cabinet wants to take to reduce nitrogen emissions. They fear for their livelihoods and the future of agriculture. The nitrogen policy is intended to improve the quality of nature in the Netherlands.
The protest is causing traffic disruptions in The Hague.Several roads are closed and there are traffic jams. The police are present in large numbers to maintain order.
The farmers have announced that they will continue the protest until the cabinet is willing to come to the negotiating table. They want to discuss the nitrogen policy and find a solution that is acceptable to both farmers and the government.
several organizations are supporting the farmers’ protest, including the Farmers Defense Force (FDF). The FDF is calling on farmers from all over the country to come to The Hague to show their support.

Drivers of Stuck Vehicles Should Continue through Level Crossing, Even if it Means Damaging Barriers
Drivers of heavy vehicles who become stuck at a level crossing should continue driving, even if it means damaging the barriers, according to rail manager ProRail and trade association Transport and Logistics Netherlands. This guidance comes after an accident yesterday in Meteren where an intercity train collided with a truck at a level crossing.
footage of the incident shows a truck carrying pears attempting to cross the tracks. The driver initially reversed but then drove forward again, becoming stranded just before the barriers closed.
Despite attempting to react as the train approached, it was too late to avoid the collision.
