Reddick’s Historic Start and Creed’s Breakthrough Win at EchoPark Speedway
Tyler Reddick and Sheldon Creed delivered electrifying performances this past weekend at EchoPark Speedway, marking significant milestones in their respective NASCAR careers.
Reddick Makes NASCAR History
Tyler Reddick secured his second consecutive victory, winning the Autotrader 400 at EchoPark Speedway on Sunday. This win follows his triumph in the Daytona 500, making him only the sixth driver in NASCAR Cup Series history to win the first two races of a season.
Reddick joins an exclusive group of drivers who have achieved this feat: Marvin Panch (1957), Bob Welborn (1959), David Pearson (1976), Jeff Gordon (1997) and Matt Kenseth (2009). Notably, only Jeff Gordon went on to win the championship in the same year he achieved this early-season success.
Despite damage to the right front fender of his No. 45 23XI Racing Toyota during a late-race incident, Reddick persevered, ultimately finishing just .164 seconds ahead of Chase Briscoe. Briscoe’s push proved crucial in helping Reddick overtake teammate Bubba Wallace and other contenders like Carson Hocevar and Ross Chastain. Reddick led a race-best 53 of the 271 laps.
Creed Ends Long Winless Streak
In the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series, Sheldon Creed finally broke through for his first win in the Bennett Transportation and Logistics 250 on Saturday. Creed had previously accumulated 15 second-place finishes without a win in the series – the most all-time.
Creed’s journey to victory lane has seen him race for prominent teams including Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet (2022-2023) and Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota (2024). He joined Haas Factory Team in 2025, finishing ninth in the standings.
The race concluded with Creed inheriting the lead after a late-lap incident involving Ross Chastain and Austin Hill. He secured the win, with Parker Retzlaff finishing a distant second.
Looking Ahead
The NASCAR series now heads to the Circuit of The Americas, where Connor Zilisch and Shane Van Gisbergen will compete in both the Cup Series and O’Reilly Series. The Trucks Series will similarly be in action at St. Petersburg in an IndyCar double-header.
