Italian Shooting Union Sets Sights on Los Angeles 2028 Olympics with Modernization Plan

The Italian Shooting Union (UITS) is embarking on a two-year strategic roadmap aimed at modernizing the organization and preparing for the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. This period of transformation will include hosting prestigious international events in Rome, demonstrating the UITS’s commitment to sporting excellence and organizational efficiency.

Key Initiatives and Events

Rome will host the ISSF General Assembly & Final World Cup in 2026, followed by the World Cup in 2027. These events are intended to showcase not only top-tier shooting sports but as well the UITS’s modernized infrastructure and operational capabilities.

Reaffirming the Essence of Shooting Sport

UITS Extraordinary Commissioner Walter De Giusti emphasized the importance of reaffirming the core values of shooting. He stated that the sport fosters concentration, precision and mental discipline, and is a means of self-improvement rather than aggression. The UITS intends to focus on demonstrating the positive aspects of the sport rather than engaging with ideological opposition.

Modernization and Structural Evolution

According to UITS General Secretary Dr. Remo Tagliacozzo, the organization is undergoing a structural evolution to modernize its processes and technological infrastructure. This includes raising safety standards and strengthening partnerships with state and institutional bodies. The goal is to unite all regional sections of the UITS under a single brand and objective.

Regional Engagement and Feedback

The UITS plans to hold a series of meetings with regional sections to gather feedback and present the organization’s relaunch plan. This initiative aims to ensure that the modernization process is inclusive and responsive to the needs of the entire shooting community, from the Alps to Sicily.

Looking Ahead

The future of the UITS hinges on successful reorganization and modernization. The organization is committed to building a strong foundation for continued success in the lead-up to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics and beyond.
