A year-long investigation has led to the dismantling of a large brothel ring operating throughout Southern California, resulting in the arrest of two individuals on suspicion of pimping, pandering, and conspiracy. Authorities report the operation involved over 30 locations and potentially exploited dozens of women.
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Special Crimes Unit spearheaded the investigation,identifying Kebin Dong and Wei Nie,both residents of Los Angeles,as the owners and operators of a website advertising illicit sexual services. Detectives discovered a network of brothels operating within both residential properties and hotels across California. The website listed over 60 female sex workers.
According to law enforcement, Dong and Nie were responsible for scheduling appointments at the various brothel locations.On Wednesday and Thursday, a coordinated effort involving the Ventura Police Department and the Los Angeles Regional Human Trafficking Task Force saw the execution of search warrants at multiple sites in Los Angeles and Ventura counties.
During the searches, authorities identified potential human trafficking victims and provided them with access to vital support services. The investigation highlights the ongoing issue of human trafficking and the efforts to combat it in Southern California.
Dong and Nie were apprehended at their residence in Hacienda Heights and are currently being held on $200,000 bail each. The investigation remains ongoing, and further details may emerge as the case progresses.
