Stephen Curry Avoids Serious Injury After Ankle Sprain vs. Clippers
The Golden State Warriors received positive news regarding Stephen Curry’s ankle injury. An MRI on Monday revealed no structural damage, and the injury has been classified as a left peroneal strain.
Good News for Dub Nation
Despite the initial concern, the team confirmed that Curry will be reevaluated on Friday. This means he is expected to miss at least two games but avoids a more serious timeline. He left Sunday’s game against the LA Clippers in the third quarter after initially trying to play through the ankle pain.
A Recurring Issue
Curry’s ankle injury occurred late in the third quarter of the Warriors’ 112-104 loss to the Clippers. He attempted to return but quickly exited again, eventually heading to the locker room. The four-time NBA champion initially went back on the court briefly in the fourth quarter but exited again just seconds later after turning the ankle.
The team announced Curry was done for the night with a sprained left ankle, and coach Steve Kerr mentioned after the game that the injury was described by Curry himself as “mild or moderate.” However, there was a level of apprehension given Curry’s history of ankle problems on that same ankle.
While the Warriors will need their superstar guard back soon, the positive news regarding no structural damage is a welcome relief for the team and fans alike.
