Wayne Osmond, renowned for his smooth baritone voice as part of the beloved pop group The Osmonds, has passed away at the age of 73. Osmond’s death, confirmed by his brother Merrill Osmond, was caused by a massive stroke at a hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.

A Life Filled With Music and Love

Merrill Osmond shared a heartfelt tribute on Facebook, remembering his brother as a man of unparalleled humility and unconditional love. “I’ve never known a man that had more humility,” Merrill wrote. “A man with absolute no guile. An individual that was quick to forgive and had the ability to show unconditional love to everyone he ever met.” He continued, “I will miss him tremendously. I am so grateful to have grown up with one of heavenly father’s greatest sons.”

In a joint statement, the Osmond family expressed their profound grief while celebrating Wayne’s life legacy. “His legacy of faith, music, love and laughter have influenced the lives of many people around the world. He would want everyone to know that the gospel of Jesus Christ is true, that families are forever and that banana splits are the best dessert. We love him and will miss him dearly.”

From Boy Band To Musical Icons

Wayne Osmond, born on August 28, 1951, in Ogden, Utah, was the fourth of nine siblings. His musical journey began as a young boy singing with his brothers in a barbershop quartet. Their talent caught the attention of audiences at the family’s Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints congregation, propelling them to wider stages through appearances on shows like “The Lawrence Welk Show” and “The Andy Williams Show.” The addition of brothers Donny and Jimmy formed the iconic lineup known as The Osmonds, captivating audiences worldwide.

The group’s breakthrough single, “One Bad Apple,” reached the pinnacle of success in 1971, spending five weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Their CBS special, “Osmond Brothers Special,” cemented their place in music history. Donny and sister Marie later achieved further fame with their ABC variety show, “Donny & Marie,” which ran for several seasons and continued as a Vegas staple in later years.

Despite facing various health challenges throughout his life, including brain tumor surgery, strokes, and cancer treatment, Wayne Osmond never stopped sharing his love for music and his unwavering faith. He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Kathlyn, their five children, and all his siblings, leaving behind a legacy of music, love, and family.
