GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women’s soccer team draws The southern Conference (SoCon) rival Chattanooga to a 1-1 tie after a hard-fought battle at UNCG Soccer Stadium on Sunday, September 29th.
The Spartans move to 6-5-3 overall adn 3-2-2 in SoCon play, while the Mocs are now 5-6-3 and 2-3-2 in conference action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The mocs struck first in the 27th minute when Annabelle Cortes found the back of the net. The Spartans responded quickly, with Kelly scoring in the 34th minute to level the score.
The second half saw both teams create chances, but neither could find a winning goal. UNCG had several opportunities in the final minutes, but Chattanooga’s defense held strong.

UNCG Soccer Draws with Chattanooga in Thrilling 2-2 Contest
GREENSBORO,N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women’s soccer team battled to a 2-2 draw against Chattanooga on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at UNCG Soccer Stadium. The Spartans rallied from a one-goal deficit,fueled by two goals from Rina Ogimoto,but Chattanooga responded quickly to secure the tie.
chattanooga drew first blood in the 27th minute when Grace Malone scored to give the Mocs an early 1-0 lead. Despite relentless pressure from Chattanooga, UNCG goalkeeper Chloe Quinn made four first-half saves to keep the score at 1-0 heading into halftime.
UNCG came out strong in the second half, dominating possession and pushing into Chattanooga’s territory. In the 54th minute,Rina Ogimoto equalized the score at 1-1 after receiving a pass from Taylor Mentzer following a free kick and firing a shot past the goalkeeper.
The Spartans continued to press, and in the 74th minute, Ogimoto converted a penalty kick – awarded after a foul on a Spartan forward – to give UNCG a 2-1 advantage. This brings Ogimoto’s conference goal total to three and her season total to five. However, Chattanooga quickly responded, tying the game at 2-2 just a minute later.
The final 15 minutes saw both teams create opportunities, with three combined shots. UNCG’s defense, anchored by goalkeeper Chloe Quinn, held strong, making one final save and clearing multiple crosses to end the match in a 2-2 draw.
