Xiaomi SU7: China’s Electric Sedan Arrives in the Czech Republic, But Concerns Linger

The Chinese tech giant Xiaomi, best known for its smartphones and consumer electronics, has entered the automotive market with the SU7, an all-electric sedan now available for purchase in the Czech Republic. Although boasting impressive performance figures and a competitive price point, the SU7’s arrival hasn’t been without scrutiny, with reports of quality control issues raising concerns.

Performance and Specifications

The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, the top-of-the-line model, delivers a formidable 1,547 horsepower (1,138 kW) and 1,770 Nm of torque from its three electric motors, enabling all-wheel drive. Xiaomi claims a 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) acceleration time of just 2.1 seconds. The vehicle is equipped with a 94 kWh traction battery, offering a range of up to 520 km (323 miles) according to seller specifications. It utilizes a 900-volt architecture, supporting DC fast charging up to 400 kW and AC charging at 7 kW, and includes Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology with a 3.5 kW output.

Features and Pricing in the Czech Republic

The SU7 Ultra offered by Cario, a dealer in the Czech Republic, includes features such as a glass roof, head-up display, parking cameras, a 25-speaker audio system, adaptive air suspension (adjustable between 120 and 160 mm), electrically adjustable seats with heating, ventilation, and massage functions, a heated steering wheel, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Active diffusers are also included, reportedly generating around 250 kg of downforce.

As of February 28, 2026, Cario is listing a 2025 SU7 Ultra with 7,800 km on the odometer for 2,399,000 CZK (approximately $104,000 USD), including VAT, with the possibility of VAT deduction.

Nürburgring Record and Competition

The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra recently achieved a notable milestone, becoming the fastest production EV to lap the Nürburgring with a time of 7 minutes, and 4.957 seconds. This performance surpasses many established sports cars from brands like McLaren, Porsche, and BMW. Previously, a prototype version of the SU7 Ultra recorded an even faster lap time of 6 minutes and 46.87 seconds in October. The driver for the official record was Vincent Radermacker.

Safety Concerns and Alternatives

Despite its impressive specifications and performance, the Xiaomi SU7 has faced criticism regarding safety and quality control. Reports from China, highlighted on platforms like Reddit, have cited instances of brake failures and malfunctioning airbags [1]. These concerns have led some to question the vehicle’s reliability.

For buyers seeking a comparable electric vehicle in the Czech Republic, the Tesla Model S Plaid offers similar acceleration (2.1 seconds 0-100 km/h) and over 1,000 horsepower, presenting a potential alternative.

Availability and Service

The Cario dealer provides a three-year warranty and service for the Xiaomi SU7 in the Czech Republic, along with registration assistance. The SU7 is also available as a digital vehicle in the video game Gran Turismo 7 [2].

Xiaomi also offers the SU7 for sale in other countries including the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Denmark and more [3].
