Is “Yellowstone” Glorifying Taylor Sheridan? Fans React to Creator Cameo
The last few episodes of Yellowstone have offered a fascinating glimpse into the show’s creator, Taylor Sheridan, through his character Travis, a dashing cowboy with undeniable charisma.
From Strip Poker to Rodeo Dreams: Travis, The Image Of Taylor?
The action began with Travis hosting a strip poker game with three attractive young women. This was quickly followed by a scene where Travis’ girlfriend, played by supermodel Bella Hadid, is present. Enter Beth Dutton, the fierce and independent character played by Kelly Reilly, who publicly accuses Travis of workplace harassment. However, the scene shifts, and Beth and Hadid watch Travis showcase his impressive horsemanship skills, with Beth admitting, “Okay, yeah, I get it.”
This mirrors real life, as Hadid is dating champion horse rider Adan Banuelos and is drawn to the rodeo world.
Subsequently, Travis attends a shirtless pool party with a group of beautiful women before luring Beth into a one-on-one strip poker game. As expected, Travis wins.
A Subliminal Message?
Through these scenes, Yellowstone seems to be subtly suggesting several things about Sheridan: his Four Sixes spirits brand is top-notch, he’s a skilled businessman, a master poker player, a breathtaking horseman, and physically fit at 54 years old. Even his perceived “arrogance and misogyny” are presented as alluring qualities that women, including Beth Dutton, find irresistible.
The approach is controversial, reminiscent of a showrunner portraying themselves as the ideal character on their own show. It’s a bold move that invites debate about ambition, self-promotion, and blurring the lines between fiction and reality.
