Yungblud Withdraws from Calgary Festival
British musician Yungblud, born Dominic Harrison, has canceled his scheduled appearance at the Cowboys Music Festival in Calgary to prioritize his mental health. The artist is currently taking time off at his home in the UK, though his management team confirmed he is not expected to miss any further dates on his ongoing “Idols” world tour.
Tour Schedule and Management Response
Harrison was slated to perform in Calgary on Sunday, July 12. In a public statement, the musician apologized to his Canadian fans, explaining that he is “taking this extremely seriously and facing head on what’s going on for the good of the long term.”
The tour is slated to resume in Indianapolis on July 28. “We are sorry for any disappointment this may cause, these are not decisions we take lightly,” his representatives stated. The Cowboys Music Festival echoed this sentiment, noting, “Our thoughts are with Dom. We are sending him all our love and support, and wish him nothing but the very best during this time.”
The Toll of a Decade in the Spotlight
The decision follows an emotional admission from Harrison after he headlined BludFest 2026 in Czechia on June 27. On Instagram, he shared footage revealing he had felt “disconnected” and “in pain” for some time. He described a private “breakdown” following his set, pointing to the relentless pace of the music industry as a barrier to processing experiences.
Reflecting on a career spanning ten years, Harrison highlighted the weight of public scrutiny. “In the past 10 years I’ve been on a million different journeys,” he wrote. “The amount of hate and disbelief around me from strangers on the Internet or bitter musicians really weighs on my heart.”
Industry Peers Rally Behind the Artist
The cancellation arrives during a significant professional chapter for the musician. Harrison recently released his two-part “Idols” project and secured his first Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance, honoring his live cover of Ozzy Osbourne’s “Changes.”
Following his candid social media post, a wave of support emerged from industry peers. Artists including SZA, Paloma Faith, Scott Ian of Anthrax, and Gary Holt of Slayer and Exodus publicly offered encouragement.
