Ex-Trump border Czar Received $50K in Cash from Undercover FBI Agents
Tom Homan, who served as President Donald Trump’s border chief and previously threatened to bring “hell” to Boston, reportedly accepted $50,000 in cash during a September 2024 meeting. The money came from undercover FBI agents posing as business leaders seeking government contracts.
The New York Times says sources familiar with the case revealed the cash was delivered in a bag from the Cava restaurant chain. It appears the investigation into Homan wasn’t initially focused on him, but stemmed from a broader counterintelligence probe.
MSNBC, which broke the story, states Homan allegedly told the agents he could influence the awarding of government contracts.
However, the Department of Justice ultimately closed the case. Prosecutors reportedly didn’t believe they could prove homan explicitly agreed to a specific action in exchange for the money. It truly seems establishing a clear quid pro quo was the key challenge.
