Bad Bunny Fires Back at Critics During ‘SNL’ Monologue
Rapper Bad Bunny addressed the controversy surrounding his Super Bowl Halftime show booking while hosting the 51st season premiere of “Saturday Night Live.”
The 31-year-old Puerto rican artist, born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, expressed his excitement about headlining the big game at Levi’s stadium in Santa Clara this February. He challenged critics, stating they have “four months to learn” Spanish.
“I’m really excited to be doing the Super Bowl. I know people worldwide who love my music are happy too,” Bad Bunny said during his monologue.
The rapper transitioned into a 30-second message in Spanish before directly addressing his detractors.
“Especially all of the Latinos and Latinas in the world, here in the United States, who have worked to open doors,” he said. “This isn’t just a win for me; it’s a win for all of us. Our footprints and our contributions to this country can never be taken away or erased.”
Bad Bunny playfully teased those who don’t speak Spanish, suggesting they brush up on the language to fully enjoy the Super Bowl performance.
“If you didn’t understand what I just said, you have four months to learn Spanish,” he quipped.
