Los Angeles is gearing up to celebrate the Dodgers’ World Series victory with a grand parade on Saturday, October 28th. However, authorities are taking extra precautions after incidents of vandalism, looting, and violence marred celebrations following Game 5.
Parade Details: Family Fun Expected Despite Past Incidents
LAPD Cmdr. Steve Lurie emphasized the expectation of a safe, family-friendly event. He anticipates a crowd of 100,000 people lining the parade route, starting at Los Angeles City Hall at 11 a.m. and ending near 5th and Figueroa streets. Dodgers players will ride atop double-decker buses, bringing joy to fans along the way.
A celebratory gathering at Dodger Stadium will follow at 12:15 p.m., requiring tickets for entry. Authorities have implemented extensive security measures, deploying hundreds of officers, deputies, and CHP officers on foot, bicycles, and horses.

Aftermath of Game 5 Celebrations: Incidents Prompt Increased Security Measures
Following Game 5, celebrations turned chaotic in downtown Los Angeles. Businesses were vandalized, and individuals threw objects at officers. Videos surfaced showing looting at Nike’s Jumpman L.A. flagship store, and cars performing donuts at intersections. A Metro bus was set ablaze in Echo Park, leaving one person seriously injured by a firework explosion. Sheriff Robert Luna reported deputies attacked with fireworks, rocks, and pipes.
Mayor Karen Bass emphasized that the incidents were “few” and vowed accountability for those responsible. She highlighted the majority of attendees celebrated peacefully.
LAPD Cmdr. Lurie assured the public that security measures are in place to ensure a safe environment for everyone. Streets in downtown Los Angeles will be closed before dawn, and government offices are encouraging teleworking. The City Council meeting has been canceled.
