WASHINGTON – Following a meeting on Wednesday, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu did not reach a firm agreement regarding the path forward with Iran. Though, he affirmed that negotiations with Tehran will persist in an effort to possibly achieve a deal.
Prime Minister Netanyahu, anticipated to urge President Trump to broaden diplomatic efforts with iran beyond its nuclear program to encompass limitations on its missile capabilities, emphasized the importance of considering Israel’s security interests. He did not indicate that President Trump had offered the commitments he desired.
This meeting, the seventh between the two leaders since President Trump took office, occurred as Netanyahu sought to influence the subsequent round of U.S. discussions with Iran, following nuclear negotiations held in Oman last Friday. The visit was notably less public than previous engagements, conducted largely behind closed doors and without media access.
