AIAS Monza Continues Rehabilitation Services Amidst Organizational Changes
The AIAS (Associazione Italiana Assistenza Spastici) Monza rehabilitation center remains fully operational and committed to providing essential services to individuals with disabilities, despite recent organizational and legal challenges. The center, a key resource for the Monza area, serves both minors and adults with a wide range of needs.
Background and Recent Developments
In July 2025, the national AIAS organization assumed management of the Monza section due to internal issues within the local governing bodies as reported by Il Giorno. This intervention followed concerns about the association’s operational capacity. The commissioner, Livio Valvano, National General Manager of AIAS, has reassured users and families that services will continue uninterrupted. The commissionership has been renewed for another six months.
The situation stems from disagreements among members regarding strategic decisions, including a proposed investment in a property confiscated from organized crime in Desio and the inclusion of new members. These disagreements led to a legal dispute, with eleven members challenging the national council’s decision to dissolve the local governing bodies before the Court of Rome. The precautionary phase of this legal challenge concluded on February 17, 2026 according to Il Giorno.
