Microsoft to End support for Office 2016 and 2019
Microsoft officially announced it will stop supporting Office 2016 and Office 2019 starting October 14, 2025. This was revealed in a recent blog post from Microsoft this week.
After that date, this popular productivity software will no longer receive security updates, bug fixes, or technical assistance from Microsoft.
Both home users and businesses can still use Office 2016 and 2019 after October 2025. However, protection isn’t guaranteed.
That means you can still open and edit documents in Word, spreadsheets in Excel, or presentations in PowerPoint, but the system won’t receive security “shields” from Microsoft Update.
Businesses and institutions still relying on these older versions face a greater risk.
Without official security updates and patches, the software will be vulnerable to viruses, spyware, and other cyberattacks that exploit new security vulnerabilities.
Beyond security, users will no longer have access to phone or chat support, or online help content typically provided by Microsoft.
