Iran will observe 40 days of mourning following Khamenei’s death, according to reports from BBC International . He was reported to have died as a result of an attack by the Israeli Zionist regime and the United States on Saturday, February 28, 2026.

The statement further added that Khamenei’s “martyrdom at the hands of the cruelest terrorists and executioners of humanity is a sign of the legitimacy of this great leader and acceptance of his sincere devotion.”
The IRGC vowed that “the vengeful hand of the Iranian nation…will not let them off the hook” and pledged to stand “firmly in the face of domestic and foreign conspiracies.”
