Hansi Flick Celebrates Spotify Camp Nou Return with Barcelona Victory

Barcelona marked their return to the Spotify Camp Nou with a resounding 4-0 victory over Athletic Club on Saturday. Goals from Robert Lewandowski, a brace from Ferran Torres, and Fermín Lopez secured the win, temporarily placing Barcelona at the top of La Liga.

Flick Expresses Delight

Head coach Hansi Flick expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance, stating, “Of course I’m happy. Everything went well. We controlled the game and scored the goals at the right time.” He acknowledged Athletic Club’s strong pressing game but highlighted Barcelona’s ability to create chances. “We knew that they pressed high and with good organisation in our ball exit. We had chances to score more, but we realize that Athletic is an important team. Sometimes everything goes well, and today it was like that.”

A Special Occasion at Spotify Camp Nou

Flick emphasized the significance of the match, describing it as “a special match for everyone. Coaches, players, fans. It has been incredible. It has not been simple, but everything has gone well. We are exceptionally happy to keep a clean sheet and we have scored four goals. Three points, everything perfect.”

Eric Garcia’s Standout Performance

With Pedri and Frenkie de Jong unavailable, Eric Garcia delivered a notable performance in midfield. Flick praised Garcia, saying, “For a coach it’s fantastic to have a player like him. Throughout the week we have trained with him in that position and too with Gerard. Araújo comes from a long trip. It was clear to me that Eric could play in that position. I’m very happy with the level he’s showing.”

Update on Alejandro Balde

Alejandro Balde was substituted at halftime due to a head injury. Flick clarified, “He’s fine. At the end of the break we had to make a decision because he had a blow to the head.”
