Manilow revealed on Saturday, February 21, 2026, that a recent visit with his surgeon was “very depressing.” He was informed he is not yet ready to perform a 90-minute show. “Well, I had a feeling he’d say that. Deep down I wanted to travel back — but my body knew what my heart wouldn’t admit: I wasn’t ready,” Manilow wrote on Instagram according to Us Weekly.
Initial Diagnosis and Treatment
Manilow initially announced his lung cancer diagnosis in December 2025, stating he needed to reschedule January concert dates to undergo surgery. The diagnosis came after he experienced a bout of bronchitis during a residency in Palm Springs, California. An MRI scan detected “a cancerous spot” on his left lung as reported by Us Weekly.
