ADAC and DRK Blood Donation Service Host Blood Drive in Cologne-Sülz
Cologne-Sülz, November 17th – The ADAC North Rhine, in cooperation with the DRK blood donation service West, is hosting a blood donation campaign on Monday, November 17th, at the ADAC premises in Cologne-Sülz (ADAC Centre & Travel Agency, Luxemburger Straße 169, 50939 Cologne) from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
“Anyone can suddenly need a blood transfusion, for example after an accident, during an operation or as of a serious illness. Providing help is part of the ADAC’s DNA. We want to send a strong signal for solidarity and humanity. Donating blood means taking responsibility and saving lives,” explains Marco Schumacher, head of the ADAC Center in Sülz. Approximately 15,000 blood donations are required daily to support patients in germany.
Healthy individuals aged 18 and over, weighing at least 50 kilograms, are eligible to donate. Advance appointment registration is required via www.blutspende.jetzt.
Donors will receive refreshments at the ADAC Center, along with a thank-you gift including an ADAC bag and hand cream from the West Blood Donation Service. Free parking for cars and bicycles is available in the ADAC underground car park (access via Paul-Schallück-Straße).
The Blood Donation Process:
The blood draw itself takes approximately ten minutes. Donors should plan for a total visit of around one hour, including registration (with ID), completion of a questionnaire, a hemoglobin level check via a small blood sample, a brief medical examination and informational discussion, and a post-donation rest period.
