Manhart Tunes BMW’s Last V12 7 Series to 711 Horsepower

The German tuner Manhart Performance has released an upgraded version of the BMW M760Li xDrive, increasing its power output to 711 horsepower. This comes as BMW prepares to discontinue the V12 engine in the 7 Series, transitioning to electrified V8 options.

The End of an Era for BMW V12s

BMW’s 6.6-liter twin-turbo V12 engine, once a hallmark of the 7 Series, is nearing its end. The M760Li xDrive G12 was the first model to feature this engine, setting new standards in the luxury class [BMW M]. Production of the V12 engine for BMW passenger vehicles concluded with the limited-edition M760i Final V12 in 2022, with all subsequent V12 engines reserved for Rolls-Royce models [BMWBLOG].

Manhart’s MH7 700 Package

Manhart’s MH7 700 package significantly boosts the M760Li’s performance. The tuner has massaged the 6.6-liter twin-turbo “N74” engine to deliver 711 hp and 1,050 Nm (774 lb-ft) of torque [BMWBLOG]. While official performance figures haven’t been released, the upgrade is expected to deliver substantial gains over the stock car’s 0-62 mph time of 3.7 seconds [BMWBLOG].

Beyond Power: Exhaust and Suspension Upgrades

In addition to the engine tuning, Manhart has reworked the exhaust system, featuring stainless steel construction, valve control, and sport downpipes for an enhanced sound [BMWBLOG]. The suspension has likewise been subtly modified with an air suspension system to lower the vehicle’s ride height. Manhart also offers upgraded brakes to complement the increased power.

BMW’s Future: Electrified V8s

BMW is moving away from V12 engines in the 7 Series, opting for upgraded and electrified V8 powertrains. The next-generation 7 Series will feature an updated version of the 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, likely with 48-volt mild-hybrid technology [Autoblog]. This new engine, designated S68TU1, is expected to produce at least 543 hp, potentially more in top-tier models, to compensate for the loss of the V12 [Autoblog].

Design Updates for the New 7 Series

The upcoming 7 Series will also receive subtle aesthetic changes, including a redesigned kidney grille with horizontal bars and quad exhaust outlets [Autoblog]. The interior will feature BMW’s Operating System X and the innovative Panoramic iDrive. Production of the 2027 BMW 7 Series is scheduled to begin in July 2026, with the M760 expected in 2028 [Autoblog].
