Motocultor festival Boosts Carhaix Atmosphere, Mixed Impact on Traders

With the opening of the Motocultor festival this Thursday, August 14, the city of Carhaix is coming alive. The event is a benefit for local traders, who, while not expecting a massive surge in sales, appreciate the unique atmosphere it brings to the streets – from off-site performances to terrace breakfasts adn unexpected encounters.

One of the Peaks of the Year

Vanessa de Matos, co-manager of the “festival des Pains” bakery on Avenue du Général-de-Gaulle, doesn’t anticipate a meaningful increase in customers. “Festivals don’t generate the same revenue as they used to.” While she’s increasing stock levels, she doesn’t plan to alter opening hours, noting, “by 3 pm, all festival-goers are at the concerts!” She even considers closing slightly earlier this year.

Though, the Ty Gourmand bakery, located near the Motocultor festival grounds, expects “a large crowd,” according to an employee.
