It is with great sadness that the family of James Bernard Brazil of Bellevue, Newfoundland and Labrador, announces his passing on September 16, 2025, at the age of 77. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, jim will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A Life of Love and Family
Born in 1948, Jim Brazil cherished his relationships above all else. He shared 54 years of loving companionship with his wife, janice (“Tiny”), and was a beloved father to his daughter, Patti (Norman). He found immense joy in his twin granddaughters, Kate and Leah, whom he affectionately called “our girls.”
Jim is also survived by his sisters: Mary (Neil), Theresa (Gary), Paula (Rick), Beulah, and brother Leo (Muriel), along with several sisters-in-law.He was predeceased by his parents, Leo and Charlotte Brazil, and his brothers Joseph and Gerard, and sister Angela. Even his canine companions, Bentley and Milo (“the boys”), brought him happiness, ofen sharing a piece of toast with their beloved “Papa.”
passionate and Skilled
Throughout his life, Jim was a man of many talents and passions.He enjoyed the satisfaction of building and creating, demonstrating skill as a woodworker. He found peace and fulfillment in the outdoors,cutting logs and firewood. Music was also a important part of his life, as he loved to play guitar and sing. He was an avid reader,enjoyed watching Jeopardy! and hockey,and cherished cook-ups with friends in his shed.
for many years, Jim worked as an underground gold miner. His career was cut short by health challenges, leading to an early retirement. He was profoundly grateful for a life-extending organ donation he received 19 years ago, which allowed him to spend more precious time with his family. His family remembers him as an inspiration, embodying strength, determination, and a resilient spirit.
Gratitude for Care
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at the Kidney Care Center in Mount Pearl for their years of dedicated care. They also extend heartfelt thanks to the medical professionals at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital, notably the nurses on the 6W and 7W units, for their remarkable compassion and support during his final month.
A Private Farewell
In keeping with Jim’s wishes, there will be no formal services. He preferred to avoid being the center of attention.
As his family lovingly remembers, he will remain “Forever in our hearts.”
