“Caruso: Passione 2.0” Brings Lucio Dalla’s Tribute to Life at Teatro Politeama
The Teatro Politeama in Prato, Italy, will host “Caruso: Passione 2.0” on March 26, 2026, as part of the “Spring Dance” festival. The performance is a tribute to both the iconic song by Lucio Dalla and the legendary tenor Enrico Caruso, celebrating Italian musical heritage through a contemporary dance lens. Toscana TV reports this is the fourth consecutive year the Teatro Politeama has hosted the Spring Dance festival.
A Fusion of Dance, Music, and Emotion
Choreographed by Mvula Sungani, “Caruso: Passione 2.0” aims to be a visually and emotionally resonant experience. The performance draws inspiration from John Turturro’s 2010 film, Passione, and emphasizes the richness of multiculturalism expressed through artistic forms. Sungani, who likewise serves as an advisor for dance to the Ministry of Culture, is known for his stylistic signature of contamination – blending diverse languages and styles.
Celebrating a Musical Legacy
The show commemorates the 40th anniversary of Lucio Dalla’s recording of “Caruso,” a song inspired by Enrico Caruso and achieving international acclaim with over one hundred versions in various languages. Lucio Dalla remains a popular artist, with 2.2 million monthly listeners on Spotify as of March 24, 2026.
Featured Performers
International étoile Emanuela Bianchini will share the stage with lead dancer Damiano Grifoni and the soloists of the Mvula Sungani Physical Dance company. The performance will feature opera arias, songs by Dalla, and Neapolitan music infused with world music influences.
