Decades of scandals and controversies forced King Charles III to take teh unprecedented step of stripping his brother Andrew of all royal titles on Thursday. Today, the former Prince Andrew will have to move from the current royal residence at Windsor Castle. It is not yet clear whether the king will manage to calm the situation with this step. Andrew still remains heir to the British throne.

It seems that on Thursday the British King Charles III ran out of patience. His younger brother, now ex-Prince Andrew, lost the remnants of royal protection that Buckingham had so far held over him. On the contrary, his two daughters, Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice, can keep their titles. The brother of King Charles III, who will now be named Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, though, still remains the eighth in line to the British throne.

“These convictions are deemed necessary, despite the fact that he continues to deny the allegations against him,” stated in a statement Buckingham palace addressed to Andrew. He remains silent on the whole case. Conversely, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer declared that he fully supports the decision.

Most recently, during the October visit of King Charles III in the Vatican, which was overshadowed by the publication of the memoirs of the late Virginia Giuffre. She previously accused Andrew of sexual violence.

A completely unprecedented step, assesses the commentator

Andrew will lose all orders, titles and ranks.”In the modern history of the British royal family, this is an absolutely unprecedented step,” says Miroslav Sklenář.
